Other People’s Stories

People on the programme often tell us that it is helpful to hear about past experiences from those who have been on the programme.

Videos

A series of videos have been made starring past programme graduates from the residential pain management programme.  We have not yet had the chance to produce videos made with graduates of the online programme, but we hope to do so soon. Overall, the feedback from our patients who completed the virtual version of the programme has been exceptionally positive, and all participants and staff feel that the important interactive group dynamic is maintained.

Graduate Sessions in the Programme

During the programme, you will have the opportunity to listen to and speak to past graduates. Often the session focuses on questions around how to practically put the pain management skills into practice over the long term, after the group has ended.

If you are a past graduate and wish to volunteer with the programme, you can find more details about how you can become involved on the Volunteering with the Programme Page.

Feedback Questionnaires

We invite everyone who completes a programme to share their thoughts within a questionnaire at the end of the programme. Some comments that participants have said about the benefits of the programme are:

  • “Meeting others with chronic pain”
  • “As it changes the way you think and helps improve your life and also you find out things you never thought possible you can do”
  • “It has helped me understand things I did not understand before”
  • “It has helped me understand chronic pain and ways of coping with it”
  • “Never thought there was so much to know about pain and how to think differently”
  • “A breath of fresh air that has changed me forever”
  • “I’ve been given a new lease of life for the first time in years. I am looking forward to living my life”
  • “It has given me back some of my own self and confidence”
  • “I found it helped me see that I could still have a full life and I surprised myself at what I was able to do and improve”
